Wellbeing

Most mums seem to put themselves last, sacrificing their wellbeing, but a happy mum makes for happy children!

You might have to get a baby sitter, you really need to tackle the ironing and you could do with a soak in the bath, but getting together with friends can be (almost) as refreshing as a few extra hours sleep!

Here are some ideas for getting out (or staying in), pursuing your interests or taking up new ones, pampering yourself and taking care of YOU for a change!

Get togethers

Host a Sales party

We've come a long way since Tupperware Parties, today there is everything from Virgin Vie, The Body Shop At Home & Ann Summers!

Host a party and a consultant will bring a selection of products for you to sample with your friends, some even provide makeovers ! In return, hosts often receive free products or commission, so get some wine & nibbles in!

Find out more about hosting a party:

The Body Shop at Home

Virgin Vie at Home

If you fancy becoming a consultant for a party plan scheme - see the Work & money page for more details

Hold a 'Swishing' party

If you're short of cash, keen to recycle or both, why not hold a 'swishing party'www.swishing.org describes it as....

'.....getting your friends together to swap gorgeous clothes and party at the same time. Every lady must bring at least one good quality, clean item of clothing, or an accessory, that she'd feel proud to hand on.'

To find out more and download your invitations for your own party, visit:

  ww.swishing.org/you_swish/invites

Me Time

It's easy to 'lose' yourself as a mum, making time to pursue your interests can make you feel like 'you' again & refresh your batteries.

There are lots of clubs & classes on offer for adults in Hereford, from jewellery & contemporary crafts workshops to Salsa and yoga.  See the Clubs & classes page for full listings

If you're new to Hereford or have lost touch with friends - visit our find a friend message board, get in touch with the NCT and see the What's on page for social events

This section isn't about being a domestic goddess, more about making life easier, greener and more ethical, leaving time for the stuff that really matters!

If you also....

 - have a living room that looks like a burglary has taken place

 - root through the freezer in desperation at 5 to six

 - care about your carbon footprint & what you put in landfill

 - can't find the car keys

....... read on, this is for you!

Menus planning & recipes

What's for dinner?

If you've looked for the answer to this question at 5pm in the reduced aisle, harassed by hungry children, menu planning could be the answer!

Yes it's boring and you might suddenly find you have to hoover the car or wash the dog, but planning out your weekly meals can save money, time and improve the nutriton of your meals.  You might even end up making double and freezing it (steady!) for the next time there's a PTA meeting or night out with the girls!

There are loads of menu sites to inspire you - check out the following:

Green mums

Reduce

Hereford Pedicabs

We are a sustainable, pedal powered, zero emission taxi service, keeping things simple and fun, honest and green.

So what does that really mean? It really is as simple as it sounds, it’s easy to get caught up in problems with pollution, congestion and over charging for public services and we want to provide a solution to this. Something fresh, innovative and sustainable that everyone can use.

Right now we've got a pair of Pedicabs. If they are received well (email us if you think we’re doing it right, or wrong!) we’ll get some more.

We also run a same day cargo delivery service - Hereford Pedicargo and an Inter Office Travel scheme to enable business in Hereford to get there staff and goods from A to B.
